I have a passion for mental health wellness and a strong capacity to create a safe and empathetic space for others. I find myself in an ongoing and determined pursuit of my goals and values, and it has been my wish and pleasure to take part in the growth of others who also seek that fulfillment.
I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in different cities and adapt to a multicultural way of being and perceiving the world. I graduated high school in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and finished my BA in Psychology at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. After completing my undergraduate studies I excelled as an Applied Behavioral Analyst at a Learning Difficulties Clinic in Dubai for three years. I then completed my Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University, and have been working as a mental health therapist ever since.
When working with my clients, I believe that the relationship we create is of the utmost importance. Throughout our work together, I will check in with my clients to review progress and redefine any goals if necessary. I view and treat my clients as fellow travelers on the unrehearsed journey of life, and I am intentional and sincere in connecting with them on the challenges we must come to terms with along the way. My approach integrates several different therapeutic modalities, including Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Reality Therapy, Relational Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Theory. I will also sometimes use Bibliotherapy as part of our work in which we read books together and reflect on what has been learned and how it relates to treatment goals.
Depending on the relationship I have with my clients and what is most helpful to them, I will dip into these different frameworks to optimize how much growth and change I can facilitate. Based on my experience and education so far, I have developed into a trauma-informed and culturally competent therapist.
