JUAN ROBLES-GIL ALEMáN
Juan was born and raised in Mexico City.
He is a Board-Certified Music Therapist by the American Music Therapy Association and holds a dual BA degree in Music Therapy and Music Production and Composition from the Berklee College of Music. Juan is a multi-instrumentalist and an active music composer, performer and producer.
Juan has many years of experience implementing clinical music therapy with individuals and groups in a myriad of health, community, and educational settings including Boston Children's Hospital, Belmont Psychiatric hospital, Mount Sinai/Beth Israel Medical Center, and NYU's Upward Bound program. Juan is the Director of "Art Beyond Sight's Laboratory for Learning", a life-skills-development-through-the-arts program for blind and visually impaired individuals living in NYC. Juan is also the leading music therapist at Atlas Foundation for Autism practicing music therapy and providing counseling related services to neuro-diverse individuals and their families. Juan is currently completing his Masters in Mental Health Counseling at the City University of New York: Hunter College.
Juan believes that the most important aspect of therapy involves building a relationship based on trust, and a strong working alliance. Juan has an integrative and holistic approach to therapy integrating multiple treatment modalities to cater to the individual needs of his clients and help them meet their goals.
Special interests include Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies, Motivational Interviewing, Existentialism and Creative Therapies as well as the pursuit of long-term constructive hedonism.
Juan specializes in working with Panic Attacks, Social Anxiety, Anxiety, Depression, Depersonalization, Disassociation, Family and Relationship Issues, Creative Block, Video Game-Related Relationship Issues, Autism, Physical Disability and Special Needs.
